Notes on antiquities, art and libraries in the Diocese of Milan, 1778-1779.

Marini describes antiquities, art and books seen on his 1778-1779 visit to Montefiascone, Sasso and Cantu in the Diocese of Milan. The survey includes transcribed passages from manuscripts and printed books in the possession of the Basilica of St. Ambrogio (Milan), Montefiascone Cathedral, the private collection of Paolo Venturi in Montefiascone, the church of St. Caterina in Sasso and the private collection of Charles Joseph, Count of Firmian. The manuscripts mentioned are mostly concerned with religious cults and relics and funeral processions of the Visconti family. The printed books listed are from the Firmian library. Also included are drawings and descriptions of frescoes in the church of S. Vincenzo near Cantu, and two large drawings in red crayon of the falling rock at Sasso.
